Eileen Escarce

Eileen Escarce, PhD, MSN is a Family Coach at The UCLA Family Commons. She works with children of all ages, from newborns to teens. Eileen teaches the Parenting 0-5: Putting the “Fun” into Fundamentals workshop series at the Commons, bringing to this class her experience as a licensed clinical developmental psychologist and pediatric nurse practitioner. In 2003 Eileen created BABYATTUNED, a small business to promote infant-parent well-being, sensitive and reflective parenting, and developmental record-keeping for every child.

For over 25 years she has worked with young children and their families in a variety of pediatric, mental health, school, and child and family development settings here and abroad (e.g., England, New Zealand and Nepal). Eileen currently works for Family Services of Santa Monica as a mental health consultant to SMMUSD’s Head Start and State preschools, and The Growing Place infant and child care centers. She maintains a private practice in Brentwood, where she offers assessment and therapy for children.

Eileen also loves to travel, swim and exercise, shop in the local farmers’ markets, and cook “from scratch”. She enjoys being a member of a bicultural, bilingual Cuban-Irish American family where her Spanish is the weakest. She tries to laugh five times a day as her father encouraged and appreciates living by the sea. She yearns to get adequate sleep, but finds it hard to achieve in a busy, productive family — catnaps while waiting in the car for children help. One day she hopes to complete a memoir for each of her children, ages 14, 18, and 22, on cherished small moments of “being with” them.
